Last week, we wrapped up our first math unit by exploring number grids. We use number grids to observe and test out place value patterns. We also use them as support when we work with challenging numbers and to play math games in class.
As a class, we hunted for patterns on our number grids. Students noticed that in each column the digits in the ones-place are always the same. We discovered that if you move up or down a square within a column, you are subtracting or adding 10 respectively. After we had explored the number grids together, your children created and solved number grid puzzles. They had to use their knowledge of place value and number grid patterns to solve each others' puzzles and fill in the missing numbers. Check out some of the puzzles that we made! Comments are closed.
